Flood is a natural calamity. When high, shallow river-beds cannot hold the fresh inflow of water this water overflows the banks or dams rush down on the adjacent areas drowning anything  low in its course. This is flood – a terrible crush. Flood bring with it death and deforestation, brings scarcity of food and drinking water and brings epidemic. Flood causes loss of crops over vast areas. Mud-houses and cattle are washed off and drowned. People run for shelter with they can save to the high buildings or places where flood water cannot reach them. Well, tube-wells and ponds of drinking water remain submerged for days. Enteric diseases and snake-bites take toll of many lives. Government and the welfare organizations rush to the flood-sticken areas with dry food, tent, clothings, medicine and drinking water. When necessary, military, boats are pressed into the rescue and relief works.
